Gold - Log #8

Final Wrap-up

The project is coming to a close, assets getting finalized, the game loop is being checked and tested, every aspect of the game is going through tests to ensure their stability. Post-production has begun, with a gameplay trailer in the works, the team is currently undergoing a selection process for finding the best screenshots to showcase our game, and our poster is undergoing an overhaul from the one we used at PAX/Armageddon. Overall, the game is finished, aside from the odd bug fix, found during playtests, the project is winding down with the finishing of our post-production elements.

File Saving

Now that we knew for sure all the locations of everything and needed events, the saving system was re-implemented. Data can now be cleared on the save menu

The Artists

Aidan

As this is the last week, no major assets are to be added so that we don’t submit a bug-filled mess. Therefore I spent this time adding any final UI buttons that were necessary for gameplay - mostly for navigating between menu, saves and exiting the game.

Connor

Spent this week contributing to the final design documents and looking at printing sources for our game’s poster which will be presented at a public showcase.

The Programmers

Hadley

Final week, spent adding the final touches to the audio assets, to make sure they are crispy. Similarly added some final tweaks to gameplay and puzzle mechanics, and readability. Really just adding final touches wherever needed, conducted playtests and stress tests almost 24/7 attempting to break areas of the game, glitch through walls, get outside of the “desired play area” implementing feedback (to a degree) from various playtests and the reports which are generated. I am both in a state of constant stress, and perfect relaxation right now, where I feel like the game is simultaneously completed, and far from it at the same time.

I coded the saving system back, setting flags at important events like tower activations. I also redid some UI in the main menu to let you delete the save file. In the pause menu, players can now quit back to the title screen which was a feature requested heavily. I also did the finishing touches to the third puzzle area.

Izzy

This weeks contribution was all about finalising post-production documentations for submission ready.
